We will be using multiple disciplines to go on a deep dive into your own mind! You don't need drugs to create altered states!

These disciplines all crossover and definitely intertwine with each other. Just for the sake of clarity I am describing them one by one as separate parts.

  1. Embodiment Meditation

  2. Ambessa (Lion Hypnotic Chant)

  3. Breath Work leading to Meditation (Stillness)

The circle practice is an embodiment meditation, that when practised with focus and intention will lead you into a trance state. You will enter into a theta wave 4-8Hz state, which is optimum for visualisation, perfect for reprogramming the mind, and accessing your ability for healing. Through entering this state you can learn much more about your subconscious mind. You will bypass your ego defences, and consequently limiting beliefs can be challenged and reconsidered. Your ability to focus and concentrate will be greatly enhanced.

This should be approached as a deep dive into yourself physically. The intention should be to see how intricately you can know and feel into your own body. If you start with this focus of intention, the movement practice will do the rest.

You will find more intricacy within each movement, and feel with more depth into your own body.

With the increase of internal awareness comes much greater ability to move and coordinate the body with greater precision. This is beneficial for everybody, but especially the striking martial artist who will greatly improve their ability to move and deliver force, maintaining balance and relaxation. Economy of movement is paramount to deliver full force with the least effort. This takes precision. The understanding and self knowledge of the structure and efficient use of the body can’t be matched through any other modality I’ve come across except for the practice of Yoga asana, which although will produce an intricate awareness, lacks the dynamism and force production of these movements. Obviously the desired outcome is different for a Yogi, so this is not to disrespect Yoga asana, which I have the utmost respect and equal fascination for.

The practice starts with a vibration exercise to free the body of tension, become more grounded, and release the technical overthinking mind. You require firm grounding, but also require relaxation, to perform quality of movement. There is a constant balancing act going on, between hard and soft, tension and relaxation. Through this shaking of your body you will begin your inward journey of embodiment, as your mind becomes immersed with the sensations and feelings inside. The mind becomes quietened and engaged completely in the present.

Now you will explore six different spiralling circular movements. Each will be practised for approximately 5 minutes. Each person will have their own expression through each movement, there is no right or wrong, the movements can be large or small, intricate or gross, tight or loose, fast or slow, it's all dependent on the individual, their body type and needs of that day. You will notice where you are blocked or stuck in your movement and you can focus into these areas bringing fresh energy and awareness to enliven your whole system. The breath supports the physical movement, and when your focus is fully directed internally, it will then be a case of the breath moving you. Now this becomes a breathing practice first and a moving practice second. When the acuity of feeling and proprioception becomes so subtle, the physical body may only be making micro movements but the breath and internal movement of the subtle force, is significant. This is the point of internal practices, where you can adjust and heal your body and mind.

After these six movements, you will have reached a deep level of embodiment and physical awareness, now you will fully be present with your breath, let go of thought, and immerse yourself in your own inner world. There is no thought or premeditated action. You are not consciously thinking about how to move, you are sensing your breath move in and out of your body, feeling the sensations and how they connect to your inhale and exhale. Now allow the breath to move you. This can be a blissful feeling, and a moment of peace as your mind and awareness is in complete embodiment, thought subsides, as you explore and heal your body. Things may sprout into your conscious mind, images, feelings, and realisations, as traumas and past impacts on your system are brought to awareness and dealt with and released through breath and movement.

AMBESSA (lion hypnotic chant)

The next part is a chant, and four step movement, designed to induce a hypnotic trance. We will collaborate chanting together and using the hypnotic metaphor of the Lion of the self. You will be calling on your full potential from the depths of the subconscious mind. This is a form of self hypnosis, easily accessible through the collective energy of a group, and the nature of the chanting and dancing. You can imaging during this time the Lion to be:

“devouring delusion, worries and limitations”

and bringing forth any qualities you seek to bring to your conscious mind in your everyday life. It's up to you, your own personal intentions should be considered before the evening, as the power of self hypnosis is well documented, and especially in this format, it's worth making the most of this experience.

Breath Work and Meditation

The final part of the session will be a Breathing practice designed to bring you into a profound stillness, where all the events of the evening can settle, and you can enjoy a blissful silence. This will rejuvenate you on all levels, so that you can return to the world refreshed and ready to integrate all that you have experienced and transformed in your subconscious mind.

We can get high without getting high! We can take control of our own bodies and minds if we have the tools, and the space to do it. If we leave everything on autopilot, things won't happen as we hope for. This will be a great fun evening, and an experience like no other.
