Grit Training

Outdoor training for people who want more from their training

Most people train to look good. We train to find out what we're made of.

Grit Training is outdoor functional training with a difference. We train in the elements, use unconventional equipment, carry heavy things, throw things, strike things, climb, move, push, pull and work together.

No mirrors. No machines. No complicated routines. Just hard, intelligent training in the outdoors — designed to challenge your body, sharpen your mind and build genuine physical resilience.

Train hard. Get outside. Build grit.

Not punishment. Discovery.

This isn't about punishing yourself for the sake of it. It's about discovering what you're capable of when you're tired, when things get uncomfortable, and when you have to keep going.

Every session is different. And you don't need to be an elite athlete to take part — you just need to be willing to work.

Train in the outdoors

Devil's Dyke & the Sussex countryside

Our sessions take place around Devil's Dyke and the Sussex countryside, using the environment as part of the training. Fresh air. Hills. Grass. Mud. Sunrise.

It's a completely different experience from walking into a commercial gym. The environment gives us things a gym can't — space, terrain, unpredictability and a genuine sense of adventure. You'll train hard, but you'll also leave feeling like you've actually experienced something.

What does a Grit session look like?

No two sessions are the same — but here's a typical flow.

01
Throwing a medicine ball
02
Carrying a heavy bag up a hill
03
Smashing a punch bag
04
Throwing a rock
05
Working with a training partner
06
Finishing with a conditioning challenge

One session might involve a 50kg bag. Another might involve a mace. Another might involve hill sprints, carries and bodyweight work.

The equipment is deliberately unconventional because training doesn't always have to look like traditional gym training. We train the body to move, carry, strike, react and keep going.

More than a workout

Community. Challenge. Resilience.

There's something different about training outside with a group of people who are prepared to challenge themselves. You encourage each other. You work together. You get uncomfortable together.

And you finish the session knowing you've done something that most people haven't done that morning. That's a big part of what Grit Training is about.

Who is it for?

Come as you are. We'll take it from there.

Grit Training is for people who want something different from a conventional gym workout. You might already train regularly — into boxing, martial arts, running, strength training or outdoor fitness. Or you might simply be bored with the same old gym routine.

You don't need to be the strongest or fittest person there. You just need the attitude to have a go.

This isn't about being the fittest. It's about becoming harder to break.

Physically. Mentally. Emotionally.

Turn up. Put the work in. Find out what you're made of.
